Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is Ubisoft’s 2018 sequel in what is one of their most popular franchises in Assassin’s Creed. This time around, they’re taking you back to the age in which Greek God’s were worshipped to varying degrees and mortal combat was used to settle disputes.
The game is set in Ancient Greece, around the year 431 BCE(that’s a long time ago), with a focus on the Peloponnesian War. The story looks to tell the ‘secret fictional history’ behind the war which was fought by some of the ancient city-states of the aforementioned Greece. You’ll have the choice to play as one of two main characters: Alexios and Kassandra, one being male and one being female. The game will also give you the choice to align with either Athens or Sparta as the City-State that you would like to support.
The gameplay looks to build off of the success of last year’s iteration of the AC franchise: Origins. The system has been expanded with four new special skills, that can be used when the player’s ability bar fills. This is extremely promising as Origins’ combat system was fantastic, and widely praised as a success. Any building upon that looks to make this game one of the must buy games of the holiday season.
The game will release with a multitude of versions, including: Standard, Deluxe, Gold and Ultimate, each offering various offerings of special items and season passes etc.
