Hello, and welcome to movie phone! Just kidding, I’m just an idiot. 2018 has been an awesome year for gaming. Highlights include God of War, Spiderman, Octopath Traveler, Monster Hunter: World, Dragon Ball FighterZ etc.
We wanted to look ahead to the final 3.5 months of the year, and let you know what our personal most anticipated games of the year are!
Valkyria Chronicles 4: We’ve been playing VC4 for about 15 hours so far, and we are absolutely loving it so far! In fact, look for a full review this week! VC4 is a turn based strategy type war game, with a strong anime inspired theme.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: We have been long time fans of the Assassin’s Creed series, starting with the original. I sort of dropped off around AC: Unity, but came back strong on Origins. In fact, it was one of our favorite games of 2017! The revamped combat system really breathed new life into the franchise, and when you lay that over an Ancient Greek setting: we’re in! Check out our preview of the game here!
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: This one has us a little skeptical. While we loved the Blackout Beta(this could really be the first contender to take on Fortnite), I question whether or not the game can survive without a story mode. We trust Treyarch has done enough research to determine that a single player mode is not necessary, but we’ll wait and see.
Soul Calibur VI: Bandai Namco is asking you to put your soul into this one, and we’re all in! Soul Calibur is a personal favorite of mine, as I’ve put countless hours into every iteration of SC. It’s been too long since we’ve dabbled in this universe, and we are ready to welcome it back with open arms!
Red Dead Redemption 2: I’ll be honest, I didn’t play the first game a whole lot. Despite buying it on numerous occasions, I just never really got into it. I missed the initial hype train when it first released, and I guess I never got on board. In spite of all of this, I am super stoked for volume 2. The previews and footage that I’ve see have made me personally excited for October 26th.
Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! & Let’s Go Eevee!: Again, long time Pokemon fans! I grew up with OG Kanto Pokemon, so any time Nintendo says that we’re going back to that region, I’m in. I am a little weary of the game play, as I’m sure most Pokemon fans are, but I’m certainly willing to give it a shot! I dabbled in Pokemon: Go, but never got really hooked so we’ll see.
Super Smash Bros: Ultimate: How could you not be excited for this? Nintendo is taking every Smash Bros thing ever made, and cramming it into one package. The possibilities are endless when it comes to character match ups and stage selections. You’d have to be a weirdo not to be stoked to SMASH!
